Thanks for the welcome and nice comments by everyone.

To answer a few more questions : My Supra is the 6 speed manual and has about 80,000 miles on the clock. It is mostly 'stock' but with some basic upgrades. It is running about 400bhp+ on the stock factory turbos and I have a Blitz SBC i-colour Boost controller to keep boost levels 'safe'.
The full spec of my car is on this link : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=51

One of the first things I changed when I got my Supra was the brakes. The original factory ones didn't have a nice feel to them, although they did perform well enough. I uprated the brake pads, brake discs, and brake fluid. And the difference was very noticable. I took this setup to the N'ring for the first time and the brakes performed really good.
I find that there was no reason to put any bigger brakes on the car after that.

I never found any brake fade with the stock set up, it was just that the 'feel' of them was not good. when you press the brake pedal there was no first 'bite'. But I also had to press the brake pedal hard to get a hard stop. With the brake set up I have now I get a good first 'bite' on the brakes and I don't need to push as hard to get the car to stop.

Tyres also make a very big difference of course. If you have very grippy tyres then you need good brakes to go with them.

There are not very many UK-spec supras left these days so I am not wanting to change it too much or do anything to it which can not be un-done easily enough. haveaniceday.png

It's fantastic how much the performance of the EU/UK Spec brakes shifts with decent Pads, braided lines and good fluid, isn't it?
Since i've upgraded mine i didn't have any fade too. haveaniceday.png

Hi AJI

Welcome @ our German board !
As others already wrote there are some of us being registered @ mkivsupra.net as well. My nick there's the same like here: j.oe.
Dec. 27th to 29th 2011 i was in UK @ dude's shop in Crawley picking up a 6spd box and in Sawbridgeworth afterwards for a diffuser rear bumper @ Aerokit.eu's shop. Cool guys over there. I was amazed at the hardcore tuning they're doing to their supras. The smallest turbo dude showed to me was a S380 completed by a NOS kit to spool the turbo @ 3k rpm. Crazy guys there, really !! I told dude if he'd move that car in GER they'd give him a 6 month sentence at least. dude answered that if he'll drive his supra @ the UK motorways like we do, they'd prison him the same way in UK. XD.png XD.png

Nice guys, hell Supras, i enjoyed the time over there and plan in going to UK once again this May for a ECU swap.

Have a nice time !

Jürgen

Yes, there are a few of us UK guys who are big in to tuning our cars.
Glad you enjoyed your time here in England. Usually the cold wet weather in wintertime is not a nice experience B.png
But England can be a nice place to drive and visit in the summertime.
Even north of the border in to Scotland is nice when the weather is good.

If any of you guys needs any help or information if you travel to England then please let me know.

Many of the guys who have big power Supras in the UK are in to drag racing which is why you see some large engine powers. Dude has one of the fastest straight line Supras in the UK!
But I would like to see more people use their cars for the track. Drag racing is good, but as a driver you get much more from driving on a track. It also takes the Supra more to its designed application.
So concentrating on big power is one thing but also setting up the car and driving it on a track is something that I would like to see more Supra owners do. This is just a personal opinion B.png

The stock brakes are better than what many people think. When many people buy a 10 year old Supra and they try the brakes they usually think it must be because they are not good enough. But like you say, all that is usually needed is new/better brake lines, better brake pads and new fluid.

Oh, You think the UK winter is cold ? Two weeks ago, a Sunday morning we had -21°C here close to Munic.
When i looked at the weather charts for UK, you had +3°C to +7°C and sunshine the same time, didn't you ? grin.png

Welcome to the forum. Nice to hear there are some other people driving the supra on the track, not only on the quartermile. I once saw a video of a UK Supra going a quite fast lap on youtube.com . Was this you ?

"Japanfanatic" schrieb:

So your car is basically stock you are saying? Did you take your car with stock pads and discs to the track before upgrading them? Did you experience any signs of brake fade?

If I may answer your question too, I can tell you that I ve gone around the nordschleife and I did recognize some brake fade. But this was according to not driving the best line with the Supra, because it were my first two laps ever. With a nice and smooth race line, you can go fast even with the original brake setup.
